LakePoint, Ga. – Five Lipscomvb student-athletes were named to the ASUN Cross Country All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Seniors Barbara Lee Ball, Sally Larson, and Daniel Lenart, junior Kacey Kemper, and sophomore Bridgette Doucet each earned a spot on the All-Academic squad for their performances on and off the court.

This is the third consecutive year that both Ball and Larson have earned All-Academic honors for cross country. They have each also won the ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, as Ball took home the honor last year and Larson won it in 2014.

Ball, who compiled a 3.91 GPA as a Nursing major, has now made seven All-Academic Teams in her Lipscomb career (two for indoor track, two for outdoor track, and three for cross country). She has also earned CoSIDA All-Academic honors in each of the past two seasons.

This year, on the track, Ball earned a Second-Team All-Conference spot after finishing 11^th at the ASUN Championship.

Larson accumulated a 4.0 GPA as a Graphic Design major. This is her fifth ASUN All-Academic honor for her career (one each for indoor and outdoor track, three for cross country). Larson led the way for the Lady Bisons at the ASUN Championships, finishing fourth to earn a First-Team All-Conference spot.

Doucet and Kemper both earned 4.0 GPA’s in route to making their first cross country All-Academic team.

Kemper, a Biology major, was named to both the indoor and outdoor All-Academic squads this past season. At the ASUN Championship, she finished Second-Team All-Conference after placing eighth.

For Doucet, an Interdisciplinary Teaching major, this was her first All-Academic honor for any sport. She was a First-Team All-Conference member as well after finishing seventh at the ASUN Championship.

The four women named to the All-Academic squad mark a program-best for the Lady Bisons.

On the men’s side, Lenart earned his first cross country All-Academic nod and his third nod overall after two indoor track and field nominations.

The senior Exercise Science major compiled a 3.86 GPA.

Lipscomb will hit the ground running on Friday at the NCAA Division I South Regional, where both the men’s and women’s teams will be competing.
