As Georgia State University holds its Fall Commencement today at the Georgia Dome, Panther Athletics proudly celebrates the graduation of 25 current and former student-athletes.

Head coach Chris England released the schedule for Georgia State's outdoor track and field team Wednesday, announcing that the Panthers will take part in three track meets in metro Atlanta this season.

After leading the Track and Field team to a first place team finish at the BSC Icebreaker Indoor Track and Field Invitational, LaPorscha Wells was named as the GSU Student-Athlete of the Week.

Georgia State placed first in the team standings at the season opening BSC Icebreaker Indoor Track and Field Invitational on Friday in Birmingham, Ala. The Panthers finished ahead of a handful of schools including Georgia Tech, UAB and Tulane.

Ravin Gilbert and Alysiah Whittaker of the Georgia State track and field team were selected to the 2015-16 All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday.

The track & field season review shows multiple accomplishes in competitions and in the classrooms.

Baseball standout Alex Hegner earned a Sun Belt Conference Postgraduate Scholarship, while track champion Ravin Gilbert was named to the Sun Belt Leadership team.

Junior LaPorscha Wells finished 14th in the shot put Saturday, two spots shy of moving on to the NCAA National Championships.

Ravin Gilbert missed by .1 of a second in the 200m race of advancing to the semifinal round in the NCAA East on Friday in Jacksonville.
