VESTAL, N.Y. Senior sprinter Kathleen Klein and sophomore pole vaulter Joe Miceli have been named to the 2014 America East Outdoor Track All-Academic Team. It marks each of their first selections to the squad, which was based on both their athletic and academic accomplishments.

In addition, she ran on the 4x400 relay team which finished second overall. In the classroom, Klein graduated with a 3.89 GPA in graphic design and was a member of the National College Athlete Honors Society. She was the team captain of a Bearcat squad that was the runner up at the conference indoor meet and placed third at the outdoor championships.

Miceli, meanwhile, was second in the decathlon and fourth in the pole vault at the America East Outdoor Champioships. In addition, he qualified for the NCAA East Regional Championships in the pole vault. He carries a 3.61 GPA in integrative neuroscience and is also a member of the National College Athlete Honor Society.

The America East Outdoor Track All-Academic teams have 10 members for each gender, except in the event of a tie, and are voted on by a committee of Sports Information Directors, Academic Advisors and Faculty Athletic Representatives. Each nominee must meet the set standards of a cumulative 3.30 or better GPA, have been a starter or significant reserve this past year and participated in at least 50 percent of the teams meets in 2014.
