Tiernan Stands Alone in BIG EAST History after Fourth Straight Title

There were three Villanovans tied for a unique accomplishment, and now senior Patrick Tiernan (Toowoomba, Australia) stands alone among the legendary runners that have been a part of BIG EAST history. Tiernan became the first men’s or women’s runner ever to win the league’s individual cross country championship four times with a dominant performance at Van Cortlandt Park on Friday morning. Tiernan covered the 8,000 meter course in 24:18.2, won the race by more than 10 seconds and broke away from a tie with two women’s runners from the Wildcats who had previously won three career BIG EAST cross country titles.
