John McNichols, the longest tenured coach of any sport in Indiana State University history with 34 years at the helm of the track & field and cross country programs, passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 66 due to complications from a stroke.

Michael Edwards (Loyola), Marissa Kurtimah (Missouri State), Ben Johnson (Wichita State) and Nikki Larch-Miller (Wichita State) were named MVC track and field athletes of the week.

Wichita State men's and women's indoor track and field teams were voted first in the coaches pre-season poll.

Bradley University earned the 2015-16 MVC All-Academic Award. The award is given to the institution that finishes with the highest grade point average among its student-athletes that participate in The Valley.

University of Evansville Director of Athletics Mark Spencer has announced that the Purple Aces will add four varsity NCAA athletic sports - men s and women s indoor and outdoor track and field. The additions will be effective for the 2017-18 season.
