LAWRENCE, Kan. Eastern Illinois athletics officially had its 2016 season come to an end on Saturday afternoon with Brion Portis competing for the Panthers women's track team in the NCAA West Regional in Lawrence, Kansas. Portis ended her year placing 36th in the triple jump with a distance of 40'2.75". Portis was one of three EIU athletes that advanced to this weekend's NCAA Regional. On Friday Haleigh Knapp just missed on a trip to the NCAA National Championships as she lost in a three-way jump off in the women's high jump. Knapp cleared 5'9.25" at the meet and officially placed 13th. Riley McInerney was 30th in the men's steeplechase with a time of 9:12.73. The EIU women's track team won the OVC Outdoor Track Championship this past season while the Panther men placed second in the league championship meet.
