Winters awarded Track Athlete of the Week laurels, Enekwechi named Field Athlete of the Week

The Big Ten Conference announced on Wednesday that 637 student-athletes have been selected recipients of the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award.

Indiana track and field athlete Derek Drouin was named the Big Ten Jesse Owens Male Athlete of the Year and the Minnesota ice hockey player Amanda Kessel was named the Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year.

Drouin became the first Big Ten student-athlete to be named National Field Athlete of the Year, and is just the second athlete in NCAA history to collect the award for both the indoor and outdoor seasons in the same year.

Wright became the Big Ten's all-time leader in the discus with a second-place throw of 63.74 meters at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Davis closed his collegiate career by winning a bronze medal in the high jump at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, claiming first-team All-America honors.
