Georgia teammates Kendell Williams and Lucie Ondraschkova Preparing for the SEC meet and NCAAs - SEC Indoor Championships 2014
Published by
Freshman Kendell Williams of Georgia is still #1 (US Jr record 4302) among eligible NCAA D1 athletes and Ondraschkova is #2 (4218) heading into the SEC meet. Her coach Petros Kyprianou is guiding her and relating her current situation and progress:
Kendell is coming off a pretty good training meet at TX AM where she set 2 personal bests in the 60mH with 8.24 and shot put with 12.58m (41-4?). Kendell and Lucie are pushing each other every day as this is Lucie's final indoor SEC and NCAA championships and they both want to have as much fun as possible together! There is no pressure as we all know that going up against the nation's best is not an easy task especially twice in two weeks. Fortunately or unfortunately the SEC championships seems to be a 'preview' of the NCAA pentathlon championships as the top 4 in the SEC are the same ladies that top the NCAAs list…Kendell's personality is all about enjoying the moment and cherishing the blessings that come to her. That is what I love about most of my athletes. I just ask them to have fun and enjoy the moment! Lucie leads the way and Kendell adapts the attitude of that if you want to succeed you put in the work in the fall and enjoy the fruition of your talent in the spring! having fun is the key for success in the multis. I like to ask my girls to take a close look at Ashton Eaton's positive vibes during a decathlon. He is relaxed, collected and having fun. This is our main lesson in athletics and life. Life goes on and we must enjoy the moment, good or bad! |
