Top 25 DI Men's Cross Country Teams 10/13 - college.runnerspace.com Rankings

No changes going into big weekend

 

1. Stanford - Korolev and Joe Rosa dominated at home meet and look healthy enough to finish in top 10 at NCAA. Top 4 did not run at very tough Washington Invite and team still moved up to finish 3rd. They will unveil full team at Wisconsin Adidas.  Jim and Joe Rosa feature

 2. Colorado - Top runners ran at Rocky Mountain Shootout and took it easy, first real competition at Pre-Nationals against Oregon, Ok State and Indiana

3. Northern Arizona - Top 3 finished in top 6 at Washington Invite.  Still Developing 4-5 for a title run.  Will get first real challenge at Wisconsin Adidas.  Futsum article

4. Oregon - Jenkins and Cheserek went 1-2 at Beantown, top 5 finished in first 10 at a good Battle in Beantown.  Coach Powell will easily be able to pick from depth that exhibited itself at Charles Bowles XC Invitational.  Headed to Pre-Nationals next.

5. Oklahoma State - Took first 11 spots at Jamboree with Erassa leading the way.  They are running in Santa Clara instead of Pre-Nationals where they were expected to run this weekend.

6. Portland - Sat top 7 at Washington Invitational in anticipation of Wisconsin Adidas

7. Syracuse - Ran a strong second to Oregon at Battle-In-Beantown.  They will get their next challenge at wisconsin Adidas

8. Michigan - 1st at Notre Dame led by Mason Ferlic. Smoragiewicz is running much better this year. Also won Big 10 preview.  They get a chance to show off Sullivan coached team at Wisconsin Adidas

9. Virginia - Team did not travel well and was fourth at Washington Invitational, has had a great season though.

10. Villanova -Put performance from Paul Short and Washington Invitational together and it was a good weekend led by Tiernan's great run in Seattle. Only team from top ten not at Pre-Nationals or Wisconsin.  They will run at the Princeton Invitational

11. Indiana - Did not run well in Washington but still have great returners and ran well earlier in the season.  They can change impressions at Pre-Nationals

12. Iona - 3rd at Virginia Panorama behind Virginia and Furman.  Freshman Gilbert Kirui is running well until '13 #1 Kieran Clements runs first race.  Pre-Nationals is another chance to show they can finish in the top 10.

13. BYU - Won BYU Autumn against UCLA and then finished 2nd Notre Dame to Michigan.  They will run at Wisconsin Adidas

14. Eastern Kentucky - Kosgey is doing well overcoming a slow starting Hessekbjerg. 5th at Notre Dame without everyone running well yet.  They race at Wisconsin Adidas next.

15. UCLA - Was 2nd at Washington Invitational using pack running after finishing 2nd at BYU Autumn Invitational.  Next is Wisconsin Adidas.

16. Providence - 3rd at Battle in Beantown without everyone running well.  Wisconsin Adidas is up next.

17. Furman - 2nd at Virginia Panorama and barely lost to Virginia and beat Iona.  Beat southern '13 NCAA teams in two previous meets too.  Headed to Pre-Nationals this weekend.

18. Wisconsin - Probably keeping everything under wraps until Wisconsin Adidas.  In meets they have run, have not done well.  Will host the majority of the top 25 this weekend.

19. New Mexico - Finished third at Notre Dame with 5 of top 7 returning from last year's 11th place finish.  Wisconsin Adidas is up next.

20.. Arkansas - Good 1-2 in Kebenei and Gonzales but not much else yet...  A chance to prove themselves this weekend at Wisconsin Adidas

21. Southern Utah - Won against a week Griak Field and finished 6th at Notre Dame.  Running at Pre-Nationals this weekend.

22. Oklahoma - Against a tough Washington Invite Field they showed they belonged by finishing a very competitive 5th.  Headed to Wisconsin Adidas Next.

23. Michigan State - Have run well in the few meets they have had.  Will test themselves in two weeks at Wisconsin Adidas.

24. Florida State - Working towards a return to the NCAA meet.  Next step is a good performance at Wisconsin Adidas.

25. Colorado State - They have done well overcoming the transfer of #1 runner Jacob Morgan.  Finished a very close 2nd at a weak Griak, 7th at Notre Dame. Will take chances at Pre-Nationals.

22 of 25 teams running at Wisconsin Adidas (15) or Pre-Nationals (7).  The only team not at one of those two meets is Villanova.   Underlined teams are links to season previews for those teams.
